I pack the car with my amp and guitar Hit the road Gig’s not too far With my girl, and as you’ll discover She’s the girl that I twirl on the dance floor of life I lug the gear But I take my time No hurry here We don’t start ‘till nine Looking fine, and as you’ll discover She’s the girl that I twirl on the dance floor of life You see, we don’t dance we don’t two-step we don’t lindy-hop or swing All we do is watch as you all buck-and-wing I’ll buy you a drink As you sip your wine I play my guitar And as they dance I sing to you, my lover You’re the girl that I twirl on the dance floor of life

High And Dry 03:23
In your life like mine you’ll know all the strife and pain and woe when someone’s touched you deep inside then left you reeling high and dry. Don’t despair for can’t you see that without these times we’d never be someone who can laugh and cry and know that special someone’s right. There’s no looking back I can see the way ahead Time to face the facts I was going to be the one to lose I’ll go and lick my wounds And clear my heart of you. Cause somewhere down the track I can see a new horizon good times coming back someone that I can rely on who will chase away these blues and clear my soul of you. If there’s one thing I learned from you It’s never celebrate too soon Just when you think You’ve touched the sky You’re flat-out, reelin’

When Iso came to town I headed straight for the lounge When Covid comes around All our gigs, they went to ground No more playing with the band Ooh, that makes me very, very sad. I could get upset so easily But that just gets me down I could rant and rave, and jump and shout But what the point, there’s no one around Might as well just make this backing track And sing the blues That’s what it’s all about. We’ve got to do this Iso thing There’s no other way around Got to get the test, wear the mask If I could, Oh year, I’d give you a hug. I hope it won’t be long Before we play again And you can get out there and cut a rug.

Be Glad 04:27
Don't go away just stay here There was a time when you were gone I just could not bare The world has changed we must remain the same so let's stay here come what may There is some thing in what they say about life It's what you make of it that counts on the judgement day and that day is always today not when we die That's much too late (Chorus) So be glad, be glad don't be sad, no , no remain positive on the bright side Keep a bis smile on your dial don't fall in a heap that's not your style What did my father say to me? He was an honest man He always slept at night and held his head up high I try to be that way the only way to face each brand new day
5.
Hey you there What’s your story? Tell me what you’re all about I’ve seen you around and I want to find out. What is the reason that you’ve so few words to say. Did you loose your lover? Woe, she’s gone away. Well, that’s s o bad. I know what it’s all about, Feeling sad And you’re hoping that the world will go away. Well that’s the risk When you ask her for a dance Even if you loose sometimes You’ve gotta take a chance on love That’s what it’s all about: Take a chance on love: That’s what it’s all about. Take a chance on love Hey you there Now you tell me That you’re all alone She up and left the place that you called home But that’s no reason to give up the fight I get that you’re feeling down And there’s no love in sight

Game On 03:06
Well, can I do it by myself Or could I face it all alone Or maybe try and get some help To take The weight of trying on my own Because whenever you role the dice It’s game on So won’t you tell me how to deal A hand that always lands in front Or maybe try play the hand I’m dealt Well surely, maybe that’s enough Because whenever you play the cards It’s game on She’s Always there She’ll hold my hand And I know Don’t have to face it all alone Don’t have to do it on my own We’ll try and take this one Straight, head on And then we’ll party ‘till the dawn Because no matter if it’s win, lose or draw It’s game on.
7.
All those things you’re saying they’re not new to me ‘cause you know I’ve heard all that stuff before Wherever you came by that point of view I hope it’s a long, long way fro here You tell me about where you came from How others came along and took your share Now, you want to wage a war and take it back from them I hope that’s a long, long way from here There was a time, not so long ago When all the world was so far away But those days are gone and from where I stand They’re a long, long way from here Have you seen the way we live ‘round here Try and take in all point of view So consider the ones you love and where you stand and leave that a long, long way from here A long, long way from here

There are high days And holy days And days to feel sad There are days to forget And days that make me mad There are weeks where I’d rather be in some other place But that’s out, cause we’re in ‘Isolate’. But there’s never a minute that I’d give away ‘Cause I’m here with you baby, and here I’m gonna stay. There were times back when It got a bit tough Money was tight Never quite had enough There were moments when the eagle Just didn’t want to fly That cheque in the mail Just would not arrive But there’s never a moment that I’d give away ‘Cause I’m here with you baby, and here I’m gonna stay. There were bumps on the track and forks in the road this way or that to carry the load There were tricks to the trade I just didn’t get And K.P.Is I never quite met but there was never a time I’d give it away ‘Cause I’m here with you baby, and here I’m gonna stay.

I’ve got some bad news It’s very sad news Covid’s coming to town. And we’ve got the ad man He’s in the big house Who voted for that clown? It’s such a worry This thing that’s going round. You’ve got to stay cool And don’t you be fooled Everybody stay at home We’ve got to be good Just as we should Nobody’s on their own It’s such a worry If ya doin’ the lockdown boogie alone Then I’ll find your number And I’ll dial the phone To all my friends and family And those at home alone We’ve got to sit tight Put up a good fight Don’t let it get you down We’ve got to stay light And try and do right Try not to wear a frown It’s such a worry Doing the lockdown boogie at home

I love to hear the sound of rain Falling on On my window pane Sunday morning I love to smell the coffee brew Hear children play There’s nothing on today Sunday morning I want to be here anyway There’s no-one else around It’s winter time Can I see a twinkle in your eye? I love to wake and see a smile Light up your face Feel your embrace On Sunday morning I love it when we dream of the day When we’ll fly away On Sunday morning I want to be here anyway There’s no-one else around It’s winter time Can I see a twinkle in your eye?

about

Ten songs—some of the old, some new—that kept me busy in the months of lockdown. I played all the instruments, sung all the vocals, and recorded, mixed and mastered them all. I hope you enjoy them.
