Let's Talk About Love
03:10
|
|||
Let’s not talk about the weather
Let’s not talk about the war
Let’s not discuss the politicians
making all the laws
Let’s talk about love, babe
Let’s talk about us, babe
Let’s not talk about the problems
that beset the world
Let’s talk about love
Let’s not talk about science
or philosophy
let’s not talk about religion
or spirituality
Let’s talk about love, babe
Let’s talk about us, babe
Let’s not talk about the nature
of reality
Let’s talk about love
Let’s not talk about the winners
Let’s not talk about the game
Let’s not discuss the outcome
To me it’s all the same
Let’s talk about love, babe
Let’s talk about us, babe
Let’s not worry ‘bout something
We can do nothing about
Let’s talk about love.
Let’s not talk about the future
Let’s not talk about the past
Let’s not worry ‘bout some other place
Or if it’s gonna last
Let’s talk about love, babe
Let’s talk about us, babe
Let’s just stay here in the moment
Let’s just hold on fast
Let’s talk about love.

The Fire
02:49
|
|||
When the fire has gone,
and it leaves you bare
all alone
and you know that
your old life has gone.
When the smoke has cleared
and the embers died
and you feel
that all hope
has gone up with you home
There am I
a photograph
lies charred in my outstretched hand.
I can see me standing there,
when the fire had gone.
Now that was years ago.
And now that I know
that life, it still goes on.
I can still remember
when the fire had gone.

Take Me For Your Own
03:36
|
|||
You can have my heart
You can take my soul
I give you my body
You can live in my home
I’ll throw in my dreams. Dear
You can have them all
Take me for your own
In the cold of winter
When the lights are low
In the dead of night
When we’re all along
When we share our dreams, Dear
We’re got it all
Take me for your own.
Save me from loneliness
Fill me with tenderness
You stole my heart
Right from the start

Craps Shoot
02:49
|
|||
Take a little time
before you choose your number.
Warm the dice up in your hand.
Get a little loose.
Come-out-roll;
watch it hold a natural.
The money’s safe and sound.
You can bet your life
you can sneak it easy
past the bad luck
that others seem to wear
You can take all bets
and throw them on the table.
Life’s a crapshoot.
Stickman’s loaded you a pair.
Snap, Roll
Pray your lucky number.
Up the ante for a pair.
Smear a little sweat,
suck it down,
cast your eyes to heaven.
Touch the lady’s fake blonde hair
Now you’ve bet your stash,
play it light and breezy
as the dice, roll
and tumble thru’ the air
You can feel blood rush
as you watch your babies settle.
Then a seven,
sinks you back into despair
a seven
sinks you back into despair
back into despair.

Dance Of Love
03:08
|
|||
Standing by the jukebox
looking for some money
A girl comes up and says
'Take mine, Honey, and let's dance to the music
Let's jump and jive.
Let's groove to the music and do the dance of love
Standing by the curb
waiting for a ride
The girl drives up and throws the door open wide
She said, 'Jump inside. I want you to jump inside.
Jump inside and I'll take you for a ride.
Breeze up to her place
cruise down the drive
Key in the lock, she throws the door open wide.
She says, 'Come inside. I want you to come inside.
Come inside and we can set the night on fire.
Turn down the lights
Radio's on. Ray Charles is playing my favorite song
We dance to the music
we jumped and jived
We grooved to the music and did the dance of love.

Twelve
02:52
|
|||
Look at you now.
My how you’ve grown so fast.
Seems only yesterday
you were crawling,
but that didn’t seem to last for long.
Today is the day
Bring all the family to town.
Go to the park
Having some fun
kick the football around
I turn to a man and say.
“That one’s my son, He’s twelve today.”
Off to the game.
Watch him run up and down
Trying so hard,
stumbles over and kisses the ground.
I call his name.
Trying again
can’t keep a good man down
Giving his all
Makes a pass and bingo they score
I turn to a man and say.
“That one’s my son. He’s twelve today.”

You Know That
03:01
|
|||
Like every man, I spend some days in a hole.
Those sad begotten bad days feeling lowdown and blue
As I mope and wallow
Just thinking of myself
Never think I’ve left you on the shelf
Please take the following, my dear, as true
Even tho’ it goes unsaid when I’m blue and lowdown
Tho’ I took a wrong turn
and almost lost my way
I hope it’s not too late to say:
You fill
My heart
You’re the light in my day
To be here
with you
is all
I need
So when those sad days come along
Recall the last line of this song
There’s only you
You know that
You know that

Take My Chances
03:20
|
|||
And now it’s over.
Where to now?
Take my chances.
Find out how
I can find in myself
the deepest store,
or maybe I’m just a slave
to it all
Over my shoulder
I can see,
laid out behind me
where I’ve been.
Now will I stay true to that:
the same old line,
or maybe leave it behind
You ask me how I know.
It’s the same everywhere I go
I weigh my future.
Weigh my past.
Hold them in my hand.
Moving fast.
Now do I take it to be
that I must go
along that old road,
or will I choose to
get on with my life

Express Blues
03:48
|
|||
Wednesday morning
Train’s just arrived
5:23 am
I’m half alive
First the station
Then the crowd
People shuffle round
Cry out loud
That’s not supposed to be
What express should be
Why does it stop all the time?
Left last evening
of what I suppose was yesterday
Long night sitting
All the way
First a lady
Then a man
Had to sit up
Almost stand
That’s not supposed to be...
Central Station
Tired to the bone
Lookin’ for a bus
To take me home
Peak hour traffic
Slow lane despair
I say to the drive,
‘please, just get me there.’
That’s not supposed to be…

Two Kids And Seven Days
03:04
|
|||
She lived all alone
Two kids and seven days
of just hanging around all by herself
‘I Wish I was in someone else’s shoes,
Just for a while,’ she said.
It’s hard getting out of bed.
She smiled all the time.
That’s when I saw her.
You know I’d never known her to relate,
the causes of her great mistake.
‘Well you see,’ she said, ‘it’s him you know.
He won’t leave me alone.’
And now she’s gone (she’s gone)
A loss of concentration ends it all,
the price she paid was paid in full
She said, ‘I’m stuck here in a hole.
With not enough to go,
but enough to keep me hanging around
dreaming of some far off land
Well, I won't go. You will not persuade me.
I’m staying home.’
